Exploring Away From School
When I was a kid, I always walked to school, regardless of what the weather was like, sometimes with the kids from the neighborhood, but most of the time alone. I loved to explore what's on the way to and out of school, even if many parts of it are creepy, especially in winter when the sun rarely shows up for weeks. The school itself was not even better, I don't know if it was the environment that came from 1960s buildings, the teachers, the classmates or just my entirely different idea about school. All I knew is that at the end of the day, even though walking to and being in school was always a bit weird for me, the way home was always liberating after hours in what I considered “prison”. Through this photography project, I want to take the viewer to my hometown in Feuchtwangen, and walk with me through my daily stroll to school from first grade to seventh grade.
